Osberton 2015 CCI** Mollie with Pippa

Mollie Summerland was born September 1997. She started riding when she was 7 years old and purchased her first pony "Poppy" at the age of 9. Mollie enjoyed competing at pony club level on Poppy. At the age of 12 Mollie purchased Blackhall Paddy. Along with Poppy, Mollie was interested in going down the show jumping route, however, this changed after realising the potential of Paddy for the dressage phase. This sent Mollie on a journey she continues today, to go down the eventing path. Mollie and paddy enjoyed two seasons of eventing carefully moving up the levels whilst still competing at BSJA shows for a local horse producer, which helped Mollie substantially in the show jumping phase of eventing. In Mollie and Paddy's third season of eventing they joined the BE Pony program where Paddy was unfortunately measured out at Brand Hall CCIJ*. The Pony program offered an alternative route to Haras du pin 2012 in France to allow a taste of International competition still under their guidance in the CIC*. The combination finished 22nd on their dressage score and received the Best Young Rider award. see Haras du pin CIC* . A bitter blow came through the injury and eventual passing away of Paddy which set Mollie back over a year being her only ride. A local Eventer and horse producer offered Mollie a low cost project in which she took a half share. This Pony was so unrideable it could not be sat on. Even when Mollie eventually got him to jump and competed at BE low level, Mollie regularly struggled to stay inside the boards when doing dressage, finished last and had to wear an air jacket in the show jumping. Never the less, Mollie remained convinced Krok was special and took the Pony to BE Novice and CIC*. Krok was now starting to show promise in the jumping so Mollie contacted the breeder who revealed his incredible world class blood lines in show jumping, whilst pointing out he was a little stubborn and sharp... This sent Mollie with Krok temporarily down the BSJA route again where in the six months of the project, the combination jumped in the 1.40 at the Home Pony International and 1.20 at Scope. See The Journey of Krok This proved to be a pivotal turning point in Mollie’s eventing, producing considerable return for the producer who put her trust in Mollie. More importantly it gave Mollie the reputation she needed as a producer and helped to form many connections with breeders abroad that she still stays in touch with today. Mollie continued to ride for horse producers, some horses of which have gone on to compete for GB with their new owners. Using the quote “incredible talent to get a horse to jump from nothing”, Mollie purchased control in two of her own dressage horses, Blusteren and a year later Charly. Mollie has using persistence, skill and determination transformed these horses into eventers knowing that a good dressage score is everything if you want to win. Charly in his first season managed to finish on a score of 14.5.

It was here Mollie met Pippa Funnell adjacent to her in the top ten line-up shown above. Mollie and her horse Charly Van Ter Heiden were based for 18 months with Pippa learning how a profesional event yard is ran. Whilst based with Pippa Mollie and Charly achieved many top placings at 2*, including winning the CIC2* at Nunney International, as well as winning the Calver Wealth Mangement 2* League at the end of 2017. Mollie left Pippa's at the start of the 2018 Eventing season to turn profesional running her own yard in Leicestershire and was selected to represent Great Britain for the Young Rider Europeans 2018. Mollie now produces horses from Honington Grange, Lincoln.
